Smoking Hot

is not a phrase you should ever associate with your computer.  Unfortunately, this morning, my laptop decided the weather outside was a bit too cold and decided to heat things up.  It all began innocently enough, you know with me hitting power and all, but that's also when the barely two year old DELL chose to spontaneously combust.  Ironically, I was more productive today than I'e been all week.

This is not the first time something has decided to spontaneously combust while I was using it.  I almost burnt the entire house down in the fall because I turned on the toaster oven, which shorted the power in  kitchen, but did not flip the breaker.  We were without power for three days while the electricians figured it out.  Fun times, let me tell you.

Several years ago, while living  Chicago, I had so much static that when I turned my alarm off, I killed it.  The entire thing died!!!

Appliances are not my friends...but I cant live without them!

2014 has arrived

We were at a NYE party last night, and though I've never worn the arbitrary glasses, someone, of course, had a pair.  The only thing I could think of is how the numbers simply do not fit into the eyes anymore.  Try as the glasses designers might, it just isn't working.  I think next year will be better, though.  I have hope, at least.

2013 came and went with one huge change:  Mr. Dexter!  We will admit to naming our rescue pooch after a fictional serial character, but he is the sweetest, most loving pup ever.   The top photo is the one we fell in love with on the Humane Society's website, and the bottom one is from tonight.  They told us he was about three, then the vet said no more than two, and then he started losing baby teeth!  The vet concluded at that point, he's probably about one.  He hasn't grown any, just gained a pound or so.  Dexter has gone from a crazy, somewhat sickly, puppy running all over the place and eating EVERYTHING in sight to a cuddly, playful pooch.  He has learned lots of words and a couple of tricks, swooned every lady in the neighborhood, french kisses everyone, loves kids most of all, barks at every cat and squirrel, and loves life on the water.

2014 is likely going to include ankle surgery and definitely changes to my diet.  I have been so BAD over winter break with what I eat that Pete is worried that I'm going to get addicted to Benedryl.  I'm quite frankly shocked that I haven't broken out into hives yet!  I need to go back to an allergy free diet because it makes me feel 100x better.  So I am.  :)

Easy Does It

Life isn't easy, and it definitely isn't without its frustrations, but I do it.  I make it work, hence the name, Haley does it.

There is often so much I want to say, so much I want to share, and while I love Facebook, it isn't always the most appropriate medium.  This is my one millionth third attempt at a blog.  My hope is that this will be a place for me to share my ideas, my hopes and dreams, my frustrations, and my photos (plus, more, I'm sure).
